Internships At Everywhere Agency
I‘ve been fortunate to have great mentors in my life, during my internship days and beyond. I have always been a go-getter, someone who fought to advance his career; I quickly learned that I was capable of taking on anything in front of me. #HustleAndGrit My mentors seeing this in me helped me flourish and move through the ranks swiftly and with complete confidence. This was not just appreciated by me, it made a difference in my career trajectory. Given the benefits of my early (and continued mentoring), I’ve made a commitment to offer mentoring to those younger than me, launching their careers and trying to find their fit in the world. As Kevin Spacey recently said (better if imagined in Frank Underwood’s voice), “If you’re lucky enough to do well, it’s your responsibility to send the elevator back down.”
At Everywhere we provide a roadmap for achievement during an intern’s time at our agency, a series of projects that will diversify their resume and give them relevant experience that will be applicable when applying to work at another agency OR brand - because sadly we can’t hire them all. I personally take my time to offer guidance to our interns and give them challenges which at first glance may seem outside of their abilities. A marketing internship shouldn’t turn into becoming one’s personal assistant.
“No, you don’t have to run to FedEx every day, but please help by conducting social media audits and developing your findings into implications and recommendations. Let us show you how to think broader and bolder.”
This summer we are saying goodbye to two amazing interns, Charity Gates (Emory University) and Hailey Hannigan, (Georgia State University) both of whom have returned to school. We’ve been astounded by how forward-thinking and creative they are. While they both came in a little meek, tentatively taking their first steps in social media, they left like lions, ready to take on a digital audit or a management of a social channel like a pro. We can only hope to find more interns like them in the future. Good luck this year in school, ladies!
